About Us

The Foundation at Mission Regional Medical Center is providing for the health of Hidalgo and Starr Counties, today, and well into the future.

A nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting Mission Regional Medical Center (MRMC), The Foundation seeks to promote philanthropy as a means to increase and improve the healthcare resources available to local residents.

We know you have many choices with regard to your health and your charitable giving.  For this reason, the physicians, nurses, staff, administrators and trustees of MRMC and The Foundation work diligently on behalf of the organization to earn your trust, appreciation and accolades. Only in so doing may we fulfill our mission to deliver quality care and superior service to improve the health of the communities we serve.

Our History

Mission Hospital

MRMC is proud to be western Hidalgo County’s community-owned and operated, nonprofit, acute care center.  Founded in 1954, Mission Regional Medical Center was originally the City of Mission’s little municipal hospital. Today MRMC inhabits a modern facility at Expressway 83 and Bryan Road, on a campus with ample room for expansion.

The Foundation at Mission Regional Medical Center was established in 2005. The Foundation is comprised of a Director and a Board of Trustees. The Trustees are civic-minded individuals who volunteer their time and lend their expertise in service to The Foundation. The Trustees are responsible for governance of the organization, stewardship of its financial resources, and the performance of its committees; while the Director of The Foundation administers the day-to-day affairs of the office related to fundraising, event planning, community and program development, public information, and donor relations.

Into the Future

At present, increasing access to affordable, quality care presents enormous challenges. Nevertheless MRMC has grown to become a 297-bed acute care medical center that provides emergency care, as well as in-patient and out-patient medical and surgical services, transitional care, critical care, obstetrics, pediatrics and more. This growth is a testament to both the expanding need for healthcare services in this burgeoning community, and MRMC’s ability to operate efficiently.

Garnering clinical awards of excellence in critical areas such as Maternity, Pulmonary, and Orthopedic care is further proof that MRMC is dedicated to delivering the very best to residents of the western Rio Grande Valley.
