Rotary Club of Mission Grants $5,000 for NICU

Rotary Club of Mission(Mission, TX) The Rotary Club of Mission recently granted $5,000 to The Foundation at Mission Regional Medical Center for the purchase of a mobile scale for use in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).  Expanded in 2007, the NICU at MRMC now contains 20 tiny beds and provides state-of-the-art care to fragile, premature and ill infants.

Junior League of McAllen Grants $11,000 to Benefit Babies

Junior League of McAllen(Mission, TX) The Foundation at Mission Regional Medical Center has been selected to receive a Community Assistance Fund grant from Junior League of McAllen. This grant, intended to develop and expand significant services to our community, will be used to purchase and install a digital Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) for use in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Mission Regional Medical Center (MRMC).

Pacific Life Grant to NICU(Mission, TX) The Foundation at Mission Regional Medical Center has been awarded a $5,000 grant from the Pacific Life Foundation, the charitable giving arm of Pacific Life Insurance Company.  As part of their “Community Partners” program, these funds have been awarded for general operating support of the hospital’s remarkable Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

(Mission, TX) April is national Sexual Assault Awareness Month.  In order to promote awareness of the impact sexual assault has on our community and to support efforts to eradicate sexual assault and abuse, Mission Regional Medical Center is hosting two separate professional trainings.

Texas law enforcement agencies reported an average of 339 violent crimes per day in 2008.  This daily average accounts for 4 Murders, 22 Forcible Rapes, and 209 Aggravated Assaults in the Lone Star State.  Statistically, about 10 of these violent crimes occur in Hidalgo County—and that’s …

Funds to Purchase Forensic Camera for SAFE Program
August 19, 2009

(Mission, TX-August 19, 2009) Mayor Norberto Salinas, The City of Mission, and the Mission Police Department presented a check today for $25,000 to The Foundation at Mission Regional Medical Center, to benefit the hospital’s Sexual Assault Forensic Examination (SAFE) Program. 

Funds appropriated today will go specifically to the SAFE Program, toward the purchase of a Secure Digital Forensic Imaging (SDFI) Camera. This specialized piece of equipment is used to document the injuries inflicted on victims of abuse, assault and neglect, as part of the evidence collection performed by a certifed Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE). Premature Babies Exposed to Classical Music at Mission Regional Medical Center

Eddie Longoria's first 13 days of life - difficult days for the premature infant - were set to a soft, soothing soundtrack of jazz and classical music.

Above his warming table/crib at Mission Regional Medical Center's neo-natal intensive care unit, a high-end speaker piped in tunes that doctors say help the hospital's youngest patients thrive and their caretakers relax.

"The NICU by default is a very stressful environment," said Dr. Anatoliy Ilizarov, the unit's medical director. "The music helps to pacify the situation."

Study Finds Mission Regional Medical Center Amoung Top Hospitals for Maternity Care

Best-Performing Hospitals Have 76 Percent Fewer Cesarean Section Complications, According to Study

Mission, TX (June 30, 2008) – For the fourth consecutive year, Mission Regional Medical Center announced today that it has been recognized with a Five-Star rating for clinical excellence in maternity care, based on a study issued by HealthGrades, the nation’s leading independent healthcare ratings company. The HealthGrades Fifth Annual Report on Women’s Health Outcomes in U.S. Hospitals found that best-performing hospitals had almost 51 percent fewer maternal complications among women who had vaginal births compared to poor-performing hospitals, and 76 percent fewer complications for women undergoing cesarean section births.
