Leadership Mission Chooses Mission Regional Medical Center Transport Team

Neonatal & Pediatric Transport to Receive Dedicated Ambulance
December 17, 2010

(Mission, TX) The Foundation at Mission Regional Medical Center (MRMC) is pleased to announce the MRMC Neonatal & Pediatric Transport Team has been selected Leadership’s Mission’s annual service project for Class XXVIII (Twenty-eight).  As the class project, the Transport Team will be the beneficiary of fundraising efforts conducted by this civic-minded group of professionals.

“Leadership Mission participants have two things in common,” states Kristina Salinas, president, “The first is dedication to their community; and the second is belief that the quality of our leadership will determine the future of the Greater Mission area. Our members work in service to the community, and contribute to the quality of life here through volunteerism and their chosen profession.”

Monies raised by Class XXVIII will be used to outfit an ambulance from ProMedic EMS with all the equipment and supplies needed by the Team and their patients in transport.  The ambulance will also be wrapped to reflect it’s special purpose.

“We are thrilled to be Class Twenty-eight’s service project!” proclaims, Marianna Trevino Wright, director of The Foundation at MRMC.  “With this support, the hospital will gain much-needed equipment for the Transport Team, as well as community-wide recognition for our unique program.  The vehicle wrap will feature our mascot, Transport Teddy, and let everyone know another “Little Miracle” is on-board, en route to a medical facility for treatment.  We are proud to provide this service to residents of South Texas, for the benefit of premature infants and critically ill children.  The work of this dedicated team of highly-specialized nurses and respiratory therapists is enhanced by our exceptional ‘partners’, ProMedic EMS and Leadership Mission.”

Project Committee chair, Gladys Cortez, along with several Leadership Mission classmates, recently toured the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and met members of the hospital and ambulance company staff.  “We are obviously excited about this project and its future impact on our community,” explained Cortez. “ We are moved by what we’ve seen in the NICU, and by the stories we’ve heard from the Transport Team. We are honored to support the work of these heroic men and women; to contribute to the well-being of children and families throughout South Texas; and to promote the Mission, and all it has to offer.”
