The Foundation at MRMC Receives Pacific Life Foundation Grant

January 25, 2011

Pacific Life Grant to NICU(Mission, TX) The Foundation at Mission Regional Medical Center has been awarded a $5,000 grant from the Pacific Life Foundation, the charitable giving arm of Pacific Life Insurance Company.  As part of their “Community Partners” program, these funds have been awarded for general operating support of the hospital’s remarkable Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

“Each year, our twenty-bed Level II & III NICU cares for more than 400 premature and critically-ill infants,” states Marianna Treviño-Wright, director of The Foundation. “At Mission Regional, we refer to them as our ‘Little Miracles’, because each one faces incredible challenges from the start. We are honored to receive this special funding from the Pacific Life Foundation, and we will use it for the continued benefit of the babies and families receiving care here.”

Mario Gonzalez, an independent financial services representative, is a member of The Foundation’s board of directors and the one responsible for introducing the organization to Pacific Life. He explains, “The ‘Community Partners’ program is a way for registered agents to shine the light on worthwhile nonprofits in the communities where we live and work. What could be more worthwhile than helping to make sure the most fragile babies in the Rio Grande Valley have access to state-of-the-art care, right here?  Thanks to my involvement with The Foundation, I’ve learned a great deal about our hospital and how special it is. For this reason, I feel privileged to play a small part in promoting Mission Regional Medical Center.”

“This grant from Pacific Life will be put to good use in our NICU,” states Treviño-Wright. “We are proud of the unit and the exceptional level of care provided here by our dedicated staff.  I know that they are grateful for this acknowledgement, and appreciative of this funding, also, which may be used for clinical supplies or specialized equipment.  We are grateful to Mr. Gonzalez and the Pacific Life Foundation for their contributions for the impact they will make in the lives of our ‘Little Miracles’.”

The Foundation at Mission Regional Medical Center develops philanthropic support for your community-based, nonprofit hospital, for the health of Hidalgo County.
