9th Annual “Ladies First” Luncheon
Women often take care of everyone around them while neglecting their own health. The 9th Annual “Ladies First” Luncheon, sponsored by The Foundation at Mission Regional Medical Center, aims to get women thinking of themselves first and taking positive steps towards their own health and wellness.
The luncheon was held on Thursday, August 4th at Corinthian’s in Mission, Texas from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm. The Foundation’s President, Deborah Cordova and Vice-President Estella Saenz, Co-Chaired the Luncheon. “Our annual event has two goals; to raise awareness of the importance of women’s health in our community and to raise much needed funds for the only locally governed nonprofit hospital in the region” said Cordova. The Foundation Trustees together with several community leaders that make up the planning committee were excited to introduce the featured speaker at the event, Dr. Deborah Kern pictured above with MRMC CEO, Javier Iruegas and Foundation Director, Cynthia Guerra.
We are a society addicted to complexity. Most of us are so used to doing ten things as at a time that even when we do have a moment to relax our minds continue working at a frantic pace. How do we create serenity in the midst of chaos? The answer is not in more information. It is in daring to live a balance life. Interweaving science, psychology and humor, Dre. Kern teaches easy but effective ways to simplify life, de-stress the body and calm the mind. These skills are designed to help participants not only be resilient under pressure, but also to create a life that is balanced and healthy at work and at home. Dr. Kern energy and enthusiasm allowed for all participants to get off their seats and dance as she walked them through some exercises to relief stress. Everyone enjoyed the event and Dr. Kern’s presentation.
